Health and wellness

The power of nature

The pine trees, the sea and the salt pans make the Terme di Cervia Spa the ideal place to relax and take care of yourself.
The salt workers of Cervia, who stood for many hours at a time with their feet and their legs immersed in water, were the first people to try out the benefits of salt water and ‘Liman’ thermal mud.
Since the 1960s, research has been conducted into these two elements which are today used in treatments, offering many benefits for health and beauty.
Balneotherapy, mud therapy, inhalation treatments, beauty and wellness treatments such as scrub massages with Cervia Sweet Salt, detox muds, anti-aging and firming rituals: in Cervia nature provides both relaxation and wellness.

A gift from the salt pans

Why is our spa unique?

Immersed in the ancient pine forest, just a stone’s throw from the sea, the Terme di Cervia Spa has been dedicated to caring for the health and well-being of people for more than 60 years.
In the spa, the curing properties of nature are fully unleashed in the form of these two precious elements extracted from the salt pans: mineral-rich salt water and ‘Liman’ mud.
With baths, mud treatments and inhalation treatments, you can experience the many benefits of these elements for your body and mind.

Precious materials

Their properties

Spa treatments using the mineral-rich salt water and ‘Liman’ mud have a triple effect: preventative, therapeutic, and curative for a variety of illnesses.
Cervia’s water and mud are also rich in substances that are associated with beauty and physical and mental well-being.
These precious elements, when placed in the skilled hands of qualified operators, will help you to improve and protect the appearance of your skin, reduce blemishes, drain excess fluid, and restore tone and vitality to body tissue.

Saltier than seawater

Mineral-rich salt water

The secret of the salty water is that it comes directly from our salt pans. Thanks to the high concentration of salts and the precious elements it contains (such as sodium, calcium, chlorides, magnesium, potassium, boron, lithium, selenium, bromine, and iodine) the water has an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, immunostimulant, soothing, and curative effect.
If you suffer from arthritic or post-traumatic diseases, respiratory problems or skin conditions, such as dermatitis or psoriasis, we recommend trying a bath in one of the thermal pools or trying one of the many treatments offered by experienced staff.

Dark and good for you

‘Liman’ mud

‘Liman’ mud is created from micro-organisms and the sediments deposited on the bottom of the basins where salt is harvested. An organic, living material which is left to mature for months in thermal water and then filtered. In terms of its composition and effectiveness, it is comparable with the famous Dead Sea mud. Try it if you suffer from water retention, cellulite, arthritis, osteoporosis, or skin problems such as psoriasis.
The “Cervia method” is a unique procedure in Italy, which involves applying the mud in the solarium, enhancing the effects of the mud treatment thanks to the exposure to solar rays. The application of the mud is followed by a bath in ozonized thermal water. Naturally, you can also take a mud treatment in a private room.

The spa pools

From the salt pans to the spa pools. A relaxing bath in the mineral-rich salt water is a tonic for health and beauty.

At the spa, you have full use of our three swimming pools filled with mineral-rich salt water. The concentration of salt in the water is between three and five times higher than seawater and will give you a pleasant sensation of floating on water, whilst your body enjoys its many other benefits.

  • Large pool: We recommend this pool if you want to treat yourself to a relaxing time looking after your well-being or for rehabilitation or range-of-movement activities. The side jets, positioned at different heights, provide an effective hydro-massage benefit for joint mobility and to improve your gait when walking. Three rainfall showers on the ceiling (fresh water and ambient temperature) stimulate the constriction and expansion of blood vessels.
  • Deep pool: The deep pool is up to 1.70 metres deep. Try this pool to fully experience the feeling of floating on the surface of the water.
  • Hypertonic pool:The dissolved salts (sodium and chlorides) have a concentration which is five times higher than seawater, with a salinity level higher than that of the Dead Sea. The concentration of sulphates is 5 times higher than in seawater, whilst the magnesium level is 8 times higher. If you are looking to reduce skin inflammation and improve its hydration, with positive effects for skin repair, this is the pool for you.

Next to these three main pools, there is a rehabilitation pool and two pools for the hot-cold path, which is excellent for the circulation. There are also two outdoor hydromassage tubs overlooking the pine forest:

  • one in the Terrazza del Sole, also equipped with a chaise longue for relaxing,
  • and one in the Terrazza del Sale, equipped with a chaise longue and Cervia Sweet Salt for a regenerating scrub.
